Telling the untold story of the Wild West’s most legendary lawman, LAWMEN: THE STORY OF BASS REEVES follows the journey of Reeves (Oyelowo) and his rise from common slave to representative of the law as the first black U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi. Although he arrested over 3,000 outlaws in the course of his career, the weight of the sheriff’s badge proved heavy to bear, and all his life he had to bear the moral and spiritual cost to his beloved family. LAWMEN: THE STORY OF BASS REEVES is a brand-new anthology unit series; future seasons will follow other iconic lawmen and outlaws who made history.
